Coats- dog coats, dog jumpers, dog sweaters
They are all the same to me but not to a computer search engine!
How to order a ready made coat
Please visit the appropriate size page by clicking the link on the right and choose a coat. Clicking on the coat number will take you to an enlarged photo of that coat. Then use the form on the contact page to let me know which coat(s) you would like to buy and how you would like to pay.
I aim to respond within 24 hours and if the coat is not already being purchased, will request payment and reserve it for a few days.
If you cannot find anything suitable, you may like to visit the bespoke coats page and order a made to measure coat.
Dispatch
Coats are posted 1st class, usually within 1-2 days of receiving payment.
Care of your coat
Most coats can be machine washed on a gentle cycle at 40oC, but all are dispatched with individual care instructions. Some coats with a high wool content may need hand washing but this is always noted in the coat description. After spinning they should be reshaped while damp and the heavier ones benefit from being dried flat. One drawback to using donated yarn is that I do not always receive the manufacturer's care instructions in which case I sometimes have to 'advise' hand wash.
All coats will give a little, especially if slept in. You will usually be sent a length of matching yarn so that you can deal with wear and tear accidents. The all in one style is particularly difficult to get a good fit and you may wish to make some minor changes. I usually leave the tummy seam a little short and (for bitches) you may want to extend it backwards. Extending it forward will make the neck more snug but smaller in diameter. For sleep coats, when a lead does not need to be attached, the entire collar can be joined if you wish. I make the leg holes a little over size so that you can reduce if required. A few stitches at the front will bring the entire coat forwards up the neck. A few at the back will stop the coat moving forward. Even with made-to-measure dog coats it may be beneficial to make small changes as every dog is different. If unsure please send me a photo of your dog in the coat so that I can suggest how to alter.
Returns
Unworn ready made coats may be returned promptly for exchange or refund of the coat price but you will need to meet all additional costs unless the coat was faulty or not as described.
Please be aware that knitting is stretchy, some patterns more than others. A coat quoted as fitting a wide range of chest sizes will be particularly stretchy and if stretched to maximum width will loose a little in length. All coats will give a little with wear and most will lengthen a little, especially if hung on a line to dry. Bespoke coats will sometimes be made a little short in anticipation.
Unfortunately I am not able to accept returned made to measure coats. Please contact me if you are not happy with your purchase.
Feedback
Bespoke is a hobby rather than a business so it's always nice to hear that an order has arrived safely and constructive feedback is always welcome. Getting a good fit for a bespoke coat depends on experience or having a suitable model available. I have found that accosting owners in the street and asking to measure their dog is best avoided! A photo of your dog in his/her new coat would be lovely, especially if you are willing to have it displayed on my site.
